Jose

founder of Sisai, began his musical journey at nine years of age. With his zampoñas he took to the mountainsides of Otavalo to teach himself to play.  One of his influences was a local group named Sisa Pacari, which he later joined.  

In 1991 he joined Sisa Pacari on their first u.S. tour.  Two years later, interested in refining his sound, Jose moved on to perform with various bands before forming Sisai. It is through Jose’s drive, intensity and love for his music that Sisai has grown.  Sisai’s mellow, haunting and unique sound has sparked a connection with andean music for so many people. the group’s lead flautist, jose has recorded with Sisa Pacari as well as Sisai, and is currently working on a solo flute album.
